Body art & Secret Love

It has been a long time since I posted a new story. I'm so sorry about that. But now I wanted to share the pictures I made when I visited the Tropen Museum. So here it goes.
Two weeks ago I visited the Tropen Museum to see the exhibitions: Body Art and Secret Love.

Body Art is an exhibition about body ornamentation in the broades sense of the word: from makeup and tattoos, to implants underneath the skin and surgical alterations. Across time and cultures. The question that is central in this exhibition is: Why do people adjust their bodies?

When I first walked into the exhibition I noticed it was a bit smaller then I had imagined. At first I was a bit dissapointed, but when I walked through it I didn't even mind.
Sometimes during this exhibition, I was a bit spooked and horrified. But there also were some things I really liked. So here are some photo's of the exhibition.

In some cultures they cut with a knife in your face, so you have scars in your face for the rest of your life.
They do this, so everyone can see to which tribe you belong.
In another culture they cover the faces of the girls with tattoos. They tattoo them at the age of nine.
Can you imagine what kind of pain they went through?
Besides that you also see alot of beautiful things.
Secret Love is an contemporary exhibition about the taboo in China around lesbians, homosexuals , bisexuals and transgenders. Despite the taboo, China is making some positive changes regarding sexual diversity.

My pictures can describe the exhibition better then my words. So here it goes. And, btw, I would love to hear your opinion about sexual diversity. Cause I think everybody should be able to love someone no matter what!!

The four pictures of intimate men where hidden in THIS one big picture:
This picture was also the end of the exhibition.

I hope you liked it. And of course let me know what your thoughts where on this post. Hope to hear from you guys :)

Travel update

Last week I went to Germany with my parents. And I couldn't post anything because I didn't have WIFI. So here is a full report :)

After a four hour drive we arrived at the cabin. And it was amazing, especially the view. LOOKK!

So, when we setteld down we dicussed the plans for the rest of the week.
I won't use a lot of words in the post, just a lot of pictures and sometimes a little description, so I hope you don't mind and I hope you like the pictures I made. Some of the pictures I used are made by my dad :)

Tuesday
We went to Koblenz and Kochem. We visited a castle and did some shopping. And I also saw an amazing oldtimer. We walked through a tower filled with wall drawings, of course I had to take a picture with the dragonfly.

Wednesday
We went to Trier and Luxemburg. In Trier they also have gorgeous buildings and of course Porta Nigra. Porta Nigra used to be the city wall of Trier. Luxembur is such a pretty city, we walked through a street with DOLCE & GABBANA, CHANEL, LOUIS VUITTON and a really lovely macaron shop called : Ladurée.

Thursday
Me and my dad went to Bad Münstereifel and Blankenheim.
Ahrquelle is the start of a rivir that splits in four other rivirs and it is located in Blankenheim. The houses in Bad Münstereifel are gorgeous. The building in the picture next to ahrquelle, is a porcelain doll museum. And in the store, pictured in the phote left below, I found out that I was excepted to AMFI!!!

Friday
We went to Monschau and when we left Monschau we went back home. So here are my last pictures.

I hope you guys liked it and I'm sorry that it took me a while to post something again.

Kisses

But besides I cut my hair, I graduated! It was awesome, it just was so hot everyone was sweating. But it was fun to see everybody once more and now I closed this chapter and I can start a new one. I just wanted to share this day with you:) But right now I just want to jump in the pool and get tanned.
So enjoy your vacation and here are some pictures of yesterday :)

She was my mentor for the year. Really lovely lady! If you are wondering what I wore to my graduation. I wore a red dress just above the knee,
with my bohemian sandals (they have a little cow head and somefeathers on them)

AMFI transit 2015

Friday, 26th of june, the graduates from AMFI had an exposition with all their projects. And it was epic. It is just art, it's AMAZING! It was a great experience and if you have the opportunity I think you should definitely go and admire all the amazing/beautiful pieces they created.
Here are some pictures so you can see what I experienced friday night.
The exposition was in another room. The things the students had created
was just amazing. It wasn't regular fashion anymore, it was ART!
After we walked through the exposition we went to the catwalk show. Here are some pictures of the clothes/outfits they made and showed us. Next year I think I am going again and if you are interested in fashion or art I think you should go to AMFI transit 2016 next year.

The amazing outfits,I just thought it was art,
was made by Abbie Stirrup. She is an amazing designer.
It's really unfortunate that I didn't met her

Don't you just love a good party?!

Last weekend I went with my four good friends to BEST KEPT SECRET! And it was amazing.
We only went on saturday, but I got to go the BALTHAZAR so everything was oké.
We also went to: Of monsters and men and The Vaccines. And I absolutely loved it. Going to festivals has becom one of my new addictions.

Not only the music but also the people and the festival ground is great. But whats most important is the FOOOOOODDDD, that was just awsome. I had a tortilla with grilled steak. It was jummie.

And of course I bought some goodies at the festival:
  • An Elpee from the band BALTHAZAR.
  • A pair of TOMS shoes. I bought them for €45 and an artist drew some pictures on them. Also, when you buy a pair they give a new pair of shoes to a child in need. So that is one great deal, don't you think?
  • And of course I couldn't leave the festival without a tattoo of a colourful indian. I bought it for €3,-
I loved it all. I had an great experience at BKS. Here are, of course, the pictures of the goodies I bought, but also some pictures of the festival itself.

O my god, this was just amazing

My goodies. I don't have a picture of my new shoes
because they ar all filthy, cause I already wore them!

The most important call

I am really sorry that I didn't post my results right away!
But better late then never :)

So here it goes.
I woke up really early. Not the best thing to do in my case. Untill the call I was really nervous and I just sat on the coutch and watched TV. Everybody sended me messages and was calling me.

My class has a group chat, so when the first person said he didn't passed, I was extremely nervous. The tought that I didn't passed took over. But when people said they had passed their exams the thoughts went away.
Yet a little voice in my head said: 'What if she (my mentor) forgot to call me and I actually didn't passed?'

But that wasn't the case, I actually graduated with two sevens on my reportcard!!
I was so happy, I told everybody. First I called my parents (they had to work, so I was homealone), then I called and send messages to my friends.
So now I get the chance to start a new chapter in my life. Because after the summer vacation ends, I am a STUDENT!!!
Ojeah, I even got my own coowl flag!
Of course we had to celibrate that I passed my exams. So I invited my friends and we had a little backyard party. It was really nice, because I got spoiled with lots of presents.
From my parent I got a POLAROID. I am so happy with it, it is really coowwll!! And from my friends I got a lot of candy!! Just when I wanted to start with my diet hahahah
The crazy crew together!!

My own black POLAROID!!

Prom!

Tuesday me and my friends went to prom!
First we agreed to meet at my house so we could dress up and have a nice afternoon with the girls.
After that, a massive white limo stopped in front of our house.

Of course we had to take a lot of pictures with and without the limo:)
It was a great evening and night. The party was a great ending of my time at high school (well that is what I'm hoping, that it is the end of my time at high school. So I can start a fun new chapter in my life). I wanted to share the pictures we made at prom with you, so I hope you like it. And I also hope you like my outfit. I am wearing a long black dress, with open heels. Both are from H&M.

Now, right at this moment, I am waiting for the phone to ring so I can find out if I passed my exam or not. I am so freeking nervous.
But I will tell you everything when I get my results :)

Wish me luck, I will be back!!

Well, this is not the best picture.
Because this one was taken with a polaroid,
so I had to photograph the photo. hahah
But here you can see really good, what we
were all wearing and how pretty everyone looked :)
Ojeah, we had our own limo and it was AMAZING!

Dried flowers

I have to keep busy, so I decided to start a new hobby.
I am drying flowers so I can use them as a decoration for card and on/in my notebooks.
It is really easy to do, so let me explain it to you:

The long way:

  • Choose the flower you really like, obviously :)
  • Divide the flowers, so you get a nice bunch of flowers.
  • Bind the flowers together.
  • Hang the flowers upside down and let them dry for 2-4 weeks.

The short cut:
  • Choose the flower you really like.
  • Put the flower between a folded paper.
  • Put them under some heavy books.
  • Let them dry under the books for 3-4 days.

I hope you like to dry flowers just as much as I do :)  Maybe you can share some of your dried flowers with me!
These flowers I dried myself.
I dried the flowers by following
the steps from the short cut :)

These flowers I copied from the Freepeople Blog.
Just because I really like their blog and
I liked all the flowers they dried.
I hope you don't mind that this isn't my picture :)

A healthy meal

I am home alone tonight, so I decided to make a healthy meal for myself.I had a couscous salad with Maroccon chicken with lemon-mintdressing and some tasty detox water.

How to make the salad

- First you need spiced couscous. You need to cook the couscous an add onions, tomato puree, olive oil, salt, regular tomatoes, spices, coriander, chilli and garlic.
- Then you need to add the marinated roasted chicken. You need chicken meat, fried red peppers, fried onions, red vinegar, spices, lemon juice, cornstarch and you have to let it marinate for an hour or four.
- After the chicken is marinated you need to roast it. After you did this you just need to add spinach, garden peas, red pepper, green onion and arugula.
- For the mint-lemondressing: you just put water, olive oil, honey, suger, lemon juice, mint, tarragon, orange juice, salt and pepper together.

The detox water
It is quite easy to make the water. You just take a glass, fill it with water and add (in my case) two strawberries and a string of mint.

I hope you enjoy the recipe just as much as I did :)

Trip to Amsterdam

OOTD :)
Today I went shopping in Amsterdam.
After my morning workout (I am trying to lose some weight) I got on the train and went to Amsterdam. I had to buy some fatherday gifts, but I also bought some things for myself.

But first I wanted to share my outfit from today with you.
In the picture I am wearing my dress form Doubleagent with, ofcourse, my Levi jacket.
It was really windy today so I had to pull my dress down every minute. But besides that I thought I looked cute. Hihihi

I am not going to tell you what I bought for fathersday, because my dad also reads this blog :)
But what I can tell you is what I bought for myself today.
I have an upcoming dance (prom), so I had to buy shoes, a clutch and etc. I certainly succeeded with the shoes and assecoires. Underneath the items I bought today, with a small description :)
In this picture I also photographed
my new bracelet that will go perfectly
with my prom dress.
I bought it at Brandymellville for €12,00

scented candle from the HEMA.
I love the smell of cedar.
Cedar is a mix between amber and musk.
You can buy it at the HEMA for €4,00

These are the shoes I'm goint to
wear with my prom dress.
I bought them at H&M for €19,99.
They are really comftorable actually. hihihi

I wanted an eye fish lens for my phone.
And now they are selling them at the HEMA
for €5,00. They are so easy to work with.
You just paste a magnet on to your phone and
the lens will stay on to the magnet, so you can take
great pictures :)

Arts and Crafts

Hello guys,

A few weeks ago I bought this book called:  Vintage at home. I bought it in a fair trade store in Almere. It's called WAAR. It is a lovely store with fair trade items and I go there a lot. Not just for the items, but also for the people. The people who work there are so nice and welcoming :)

But back to business. This afternoon my mom and I decided to make something out of this book. I made the lampshade and my mom made the great and awsome decorations for my boots. I really love them.

How to make the lampshade:
* buy an old lampshade on a vintage or a flee market.
* take the original fabric off.
* decide what you want to put on your lampshade: Fabric scraps or pieces of lace, stuff like that.
Just glue it on the lampshade and it's finished.

I had a lot of fabric scraps, so I knitted them together and pasted them with my glue gun on the lampshade.
At kingsday I bought a lot of old lampshades for less then €2,- This lampshade was my first try so now I can make a lot more.

How to make the decorations on my the boots:
* you need ribbons, or other nice things you can sew on it.
* you also need a big piece of leather to sew the decorations on it.
* to rap the pieces around your boots, you need to make holes in patch so you can attach the laces.
Whe bought a big piece of leather on the fabric market and the ribbons we bought at the Xenos. It al costs like €10,-

I hope you like what we made and if you ever have any questions, you can just email me with the question :)

Final exam

Today I made my last exam. It went okay, my last subject was physics. I'm usually great in physics, but with tests I always screw up. Lets hope that that is not the case. I am hoping I will graduate this year and just move on to the next school :)
Now I am home and I can finally relax for two weeks and then I will get a phone call with my results. O my god, I hope I passed!! But for now, I AM FREE FROM SCHOOL!!!!

I also wanted to tell you that I finally wore my hat today. It has been a long time since I wore it. Besides, I think you should see my whole outfit from today :)
I really like this look. I am wearing my oversisde blouse and mom jeans, both pieces I bought at H&M. My studded boots I bought at Taft in Amsterdam-Noord.
I hope you like my outfit as much as I like it :)

:)

My precious

My wall full of LP's
Today is the beginning of a new week. I only have to more tests to go and then I am free (from school). But because it is the beginning of a new week I wanted to show you my collection of LP's. I am really proud of my collection and it is still growing :)

On Kingsday, a while back, I bought four new LP's to hang on my wall (just for €8,00). I am a big music fan, but I also buy the LP's because of the covers.
I choose the prettiest and coolest
covers I can find,so I can hang them
on my wall.
I have no idea why I hang them on my wall but I think it looks really cool :) Underneath my new LP's!

The LP"s I bought on Kingsday!

I bought this one because I thought it
looked just like a painting!
And it is going to look great on my
wall!

I am very interested in the eye,
So this one seemed
appropriate!

This one I bought because of the music,
I am a big fan of synthesizer!

Shopping addiction

As I told you in my former post I had a meeting with Demi, my fellow blogger. We talked a lot about our blogs and how we can improve with our blogging. As you can see my blog has changed immens! But I am posting this because, besides the blog meeting I also bought some nice new things :)

When I am in the city I always buy something. So, because of my shop addiction, I made an agreement with myself: I am going to save some money, so I can spend it at Best Kept Secret!!!

But back to my newly bought things :)
So I bought a notebook for the blog, I can wright anything in it and it is prety awesome already. Besdides the notebook, I also bought a 'letter slinger' (I'm sorry, I don't know the English word for it). And a vase with a dragonfly on it.

Bought it at the xenos for, I think, €2,35. And I think it is pretty cool,
because it matches my butterfly in a frame very well.
I already had the camera :) my parents gave it to me for my 16th birthday last year.
But the notebook I bought at the HEMA for €3,00.

Bought it at the xenos for about €3,50. And now it is hanging on my door.
